On the mechanisms of DC conduction in electrospun PLZT/PVDF nanocomposite membranes

Designing dielectric nanocomposite films with excellent properties is of strategic importance for a variety applications requiring pressure sensing, energy harvesting and storing, biomedical technology. Hence, the present investigation aims at studying lead lanthanum zirconate titanate (PLZT)/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) based membranes fabricated using traditional electrospinning techniques. The composites were investigated structural electrical conductivity varying temperatures. While Scanning Electron microscope revealed beaded unannealed micro/nanofibers, observations temperature-dependent imply that charge carrier transport phenomena involve more than one conduction mechanism. This an interesting observation can be explained in terms contents porosity composites. As compared to PVDF, PLZT/PVDF have somewhat better conductivity. space limited current was dominant mechanism high voltages, while Schottky–Richardson dominating temperature, according observed J–V characteristics. DC activation found different, as expected, due dynamically heterogeneous nature PLZT aggregates within polymer matrix; however, exhibit well-known Arrhenius relationship. indicates electronic thermally activated.
